Disappeared

"
Disappeared” is a photographic project from the photojournalist specializing in conflict zones, Gervasio Sánchez, centring on the subject of the forced disappearance of people, with examples having occurred in 10 countries: Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Iraq, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Bosnia and, by way of epilogue, Spain.

The Hispanic phenomenon symbolizes the homogeneous framework shared by Spain and Latin America. But who built this myth and what strategies have been generated to keep it going down through the centuries, through many different regimes, ideologies and go! vernments?
