Art Los Angeles Contemporary hosts a morning music session with a performance by Emily Lacy and Lady Noise.

Emily Lacy will work with folk and electronic influences to produce reverberant sounds and echoes over the course of an hour. Emily Lacy is a folk and electronic sound artist generating works in music, film, and other media. She has performed in exhibitions at PS1 MOMA, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Hammer Museum, and LACMA, in addition to various DIY spaces all throughout America. She works very closely with Machine Project.

Lady Noise, founded by artist Gabie Strong, is the free-form sound collaboration between Kelly Coats (flute), Kathleen Kim (violin), Gabie Strong (bass) and Sandy Yang (guitar and drums). Disrupting conventional spatial formations of live sound performance, the group freely shapes the area reserved for hearing and language to present the listening audience with the aching beauty of amplified harmonic decay.

Joseph Mosconi is a writer and linguist based in Los Angeles. He is an editor of Area Sneaks, a journal of poetry and visual arts, and co-directs the Poetic Research Bureau, a literary service in the public domain.

Artist Scoli Acosta lives and works in Los Angeles. Art collective Human Resources presents an hour long program of performances and musical acts. Human Resources serves as a point of convergence for diverse and disparate art communities to engage in conversation and idea-sharing promoting the sustainability of non-traditional art forms.

Friday January 28th:

My body lies over the ocean.
My body lies over the sea.
Organized by Paul Pescador

Human Resources, Los Angeles presents My body lies over the Ocean. My body lies over the sea. A one night performance event featuring the work of Alexis Disselkoen and Tessa Kurszewski, Billy Kheel, Paul Pescador, and Nancy Popp. My body lies over the Ocean. My body lies over the sea will focus on site-specific situational and interactive performances. The event will examine the role of the body as vehicle for physical production. Whether it is through the excursion of endurance or the transference of physicality to material form, each performer examines the role of the body as a vessel in which performance disseminates.

My body lies over the Ocean. My body lies over the sea. stems from a larger set of performance events organized by Paul Pescador. Theses performances focus on site-specific situational and interactive performances. In this event, the exhibition space is divided into multiple units. Each performer will separate their piece into one of these locations. As the event unfolds varying parts of each performance will begin to move, by the end of the event: performers, objects, and audience will begin to blur into one another.
