Hooshang Khorasani's 36x36-inch mixed-media painting "The Road Not Taken Number 2" will be part of the 43rd Art Exhibit and Auction at the Yellowstone Arts Museum from Jan. 27 through March 5. The live and silent auction night will be March 5. The event showcases an eclectic mix of styles that have come to characterize the culture of Montana. Artwork will range from cutting-edge contemporary to traditional landscape and Western. Museum officials say the auction is a premier showcase of art that draws collectors from across the country and features some of the region's most prominent artists. Hooshang Khorasani has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2004.
Mary Maxon and Ellen Ornitz served as jurors. Maxon has been curator of exhibits and collections for the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, S.D., since 1998. Ornitz is a sculptor and has served as the visual arts director for the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture in Bozeman, Mont., since 1997.
Hooshang's work reflects a bold contemporary style, with hues that alternate between muted and highly energized. He paints on canvas, board and paper using acrylic, oil, pastel, charcoal and pencil. His work ranges from brushwork to washes to work with a palette knife.
