Artist's Lecture: Stacy Lynn Waddell

Feb 10, 5:30pm

Stacy Lynn Waddell talks about her recent work in The Evidence of Things Unseen on view at the Weatherspoon, January 22-April 22, 2010.

Workshop with Stacy Lynn Waddell

Feb 12, 10am - 3pm

Integrating Visual Art and Social Studies: A Teacher Workshop with Stacy Lynn Waddell.

Registration required. $5 WAM members; $10 nonmembers.

Like many artists, Stacy Lynn began with an exploration of painting and gradually became interested in developing a practice that intersected with printmaking, sculpture, and collage. The use of tools and chemicals that color and stain via heat became a means to articulate theatricality and connect to a broader range of ideas including social politics, science, and craft. Designed for educators, this workshop will focus on visual art and social studies in exploring how form and content function in a work of art.

Register by January 28, by contacting Terri Dowell-Dennis at: t_dowell@uncg.edu or (336) 256-1449.

Morning coffee and pastries provided. A one hour lunch break is scheduled. Guests may bring their own lunch. Restaurants are located within short walking distance on Tate Street. GCS Teachers may earn .6 CEUs with attendance at both the Artist Talk (Feb 10) and Teacher Workshop.

This project is supported with an investment from the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro.
