Sheela Gowda: Therein & Besides - Iniva at Rivington Place

 Sheela Gowda: Therein & Besides

19 January - 12 March 2011
Rivington Place

Featured in The Guardian Guide's 'Pick of the Week' and Aesthetica Magazine's '10 to See'

Large colourful painted structures and 10,000 small wooden ritual figures are juxtaposed in Sheela Gowda's dynamic new commission of all people. The artist balances form, perception and legibility, holding a number of elements in play.

Collateral is made from burned incense ash manipulated into intricate patterns. Its fragmented and broken appearance suggests a landscape ravaged by war.
