Wednesday, February 9th, 2011, 7:30-10pm

LeBasse Projects is excited to host our first Panel Discussion that coincides with our current exhibition of Korean Contemporary Art.

CULTURE FLUX will examine key issues shaping the Korean contemporary art scene today and tomorrow: How do a growing Asian art market, a wired, web-savvy South Korea, and the recently internationalized contemporary art scene impact art work produced both within Korea and the Korean diaspora? How might such factors influence the creative process? How might they influence critical and collector evaluations of the work‹in the United States, Europe and Korea?

PANELISTS: Heidi Chang (PYO Gallery) Scarlet Cheng (art writer/critic, contributor to LA Times, Artillery magazine)John Souza (Former faculty at Otis/curator) Yeonju Sung (participating AHN-NYUNG | HELLO artist)

Ahn-Nyung | Hello

'Ahn-Nyung | Hello' is an exhibition of multimedia works by four Korean artists exploring theconceptual and visual currents igniting the Korean contemporary art scene today. CuratorJae Yang mines the vanguard of South Korea's dynamic gallery scene to deliver the Americanaudience an unprecedented survey of works that are as effusive in their naivete as they are expansivein their aesthetic achievement.

As a whole, 'Ahn-Nyung | Hello' uncovers a culture in transition in which memories are mutable, synthesis abuts tradition, and experience is subject to a regimenof creative re-envisioning.

Featured artists include Hyung Kwan Kim, Seok Kim, Yeonju Sung, and Jin Young Yu.
