Black & White Gallery / Project Space, Brooklyn, NY is delighted to present the extensive exhibition of recent works by the New York based Spanish artist Isidro Blasco. This is Blasco's first solo exhibition in the gallery’s Brooklyn location.

The exhibition features The End Of Things - an enormous installation, created especially for Black & White Project Space’s outdoor 1,500 square foot gallery. The form of the installation recreates a labyrinth of dozens of distorted spaces, each marked by two simple panels one with a door and another with a door and a square window, built with basic building materials and repeated ad infinitum. Continuously animated by visitors walking through this architectural set with tilted floor and walls askew, Blasco’s installation is a living, breathing sculpture. The public is immersed in an experience that is as conceptual as it is sensual. Blasco’s goal is to reveal how slight variations of a physical space make it unpredictable and challenge the basic human desire to have a grip on its surroundings. The End Of Things will be on view from February 25 to May 15, 2011.

The site-specific installation in the outdoor Project Space is complemented by This Is What I Remember in the indoor Gallery - a display of a series of small-scale wall and large-scale floor sculptures, photo collages with aerial views of mega metropolises where facts, memories, images, and forms are woven into a complex mesh of fragmentation, superimposition and mosaic patterns. Each object, each material catches the attention of the viewer enticing it into a web that is rich in associative and imaginative spaces. This exhibition includes two recent short films that provide insight into the development of Blasco’s work to date and outline the range of his multifaceted explorations: Elusive Here (2010) - a dream-like narrative of transitional moments in Blasco’s life and The End of Things (2011) – a video-animation made with thousands of photographs referencing the multiplicity of images with which Blasco evokes spaces. This Is What I Remember will be on view from February 25 to April 3, 2011.

Isidro Blasco lives and works in New York (b.1962, Madrid). He exhibits widely both at home and internationally.   Blasco is a recipient of the prestigious Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in Visual Arts (2000). His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Baltimore Museum of Art, Chicago Institute of Contemporary Art, and several museums in his native Spain as well as in many private collections.
