Emerging Modernities Public Tickets Special:

The Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA) is offering a special on public tickets for Emerging Modernities (18-20 February). These weekend passes at R150 include access to all sessions, performances, refreshments and transport to site specific installations throughout the city, but exclude lunches. /A WORD OF ART Welcomes New International Resident Artist:

A WORD OF ART welcomed their new international resident, TIKA, earlier this year. TIKA is here in South Africa as part of a residency programme hosted by /A WORD OF ART, Pro-Helvetia, and the Woodstock Industrial Centre. She is currently hard at work for her solo show KAPTIKA, which opens 26 Feb, 8pm, at the Woodstock Industrial Centre. Eco-Design Initiative's "No Kak!" Campaign:

The "No Kak!" campaign debuts in Africa’s design capital, Cape Town, during February 2011. The Eco Design Showcase will be a spectacular display of design prototypes, sustainable concepts and design stories, as portrayed by the young Swedish and South African participants. Read more here.

South African Curates Exhibition in El Salvador:

The Art Museum of El Salvador (MARTE) is pleased to announce the opening of Coca-colonized, curated by South African born, USA-based curator Claire Breukel. Coca-colonized—a contemporary multimedia exhibition originated at Brotkunsthalle, Vienna—launches at the MARTE Museum in San Salvador in May 2011. Read more here.
