Inside Looking Out
May 3 through June 17, 2011
Opening reception: Tues., May 3, 6-8 p.m.
Inside Looking Out is a dual exhibition inspired by the windows, natural light and surrounding landscape of the Dublin Arts Council gallery. Painter David Jewell, who currently lives in Athens, Ohio, often creates interior scenes where a window, its light and view are significant parts of the composition. His landscapes will offer an interesting counterpoint to the interiors. Ceramicist Sara Gallo, who lives and works in Philadelphia, provides complement and contrast through an installation of glazed objects that are often displayed on walls in constellation-like compositions.
Inside Looking Out is curated by Ann Bremner, publications editor for the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She also contributes occasional essays and articles on contemporary art and artists to newspapers, magazines, and museum/gallery publications throughout Ohio and the region. She received B.A. and M.A. degrees in the history of art from Ohio State and has taught there and at several Ohio colleges and universities.
The exhibition will be on view in the Dublin Arts Council gallery, 7125 Riverside Dr., Dublin, Ohio. Hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m.– 5p.m.; and Sat., 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free of charge and all are welcome. 614/889-7444. www.dublinarts.org.

Re-Union: David Bamber and Andrew F. Scott
June 28 through Aug. 12, 2011
Opening reception: Tues., June 28, 6-8 p.m.
Reunions imply a coming together for family and friends based on a connection or association. Such is the case for artists David Bamber of Columbus and Andrew F. Scott, a professor of sculpture at the Savannah, Ga., College of Art and Design. The artists first met as graduate students at The Ohio State University, became studio mates in the sculpture department and began a collaborative association that would span 18 years of sharing the same creative space.
During this time, they worked together on the fourth commission of the Dublin Art in Public Places program, creating the interior relief sculpture series that was unveiled when the Dublin Community Recreation Center opened in 1996.
The exhibition marks the first time that a collection of the artists’ work has been shown together. While they share a love of material and fabrication processes, their thematic focus and approaches could not be more different. This exhibition will spark a dialogue about artists who have a close personal and working association and the creative paths they continue to travel.
