Image/Fame/Memory provides a new context for the work of four important photographers associated with images of fame and celebrity in art, music, and popular culture. Foregrounding the role of the photographic image in creating fame and perpetuating cultural memory, this exhibition presents photographs by Billy Name, Kate Simon, Curtis Knapp, and Gerard Malanga, and recent screen print images by Shepard Fairey created in collaboration with Billy Name and Kate Simon.

Paul D. Miller (DJ Spooky) juried the Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) sixth Experimental Media Series, and introduced the winners at the first presentation of the artists' works at the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC (WPA info). Miller will also introduce a presentation at the Hirshhorn Museum, Match 31, 8PM. Irvine Contemporary will show the film El Toro by WPA Experimental Media Series award winner, Paul Moon, in April.
