The Prospect Bear

An interactive art and music experience
Cartoon Art Museum Event:  Saturday, March 5, 2011, 1:00pm and 2:00pm
Free with paid admission to the Cartoon Art Museum

San Francisco, CA:  The Cartoon Art Museum welcomes DJ Scientific and his crew for a special Saturday afternoon performance of The Prospect Bear, an interactive program combining narration, live music and projected illustrations.  Performances will take place at 1:00pm and 2:00pm at the Cartoon Art Museum, and the event is free with paid admission to the museum.

Story Description:

Prospect Bear is an inspirational children story about following your dreams. The main character Shine is a curious bear cub who believes in her heart she is meant to live more than just a traditional bear's life. She discovers her dream when one day she lets her curiosity get the best of her and follows the sound of music to Park Prospect. Shine soon finds that as much as she would love to follow her dream of playing music, she may have to give it up.

Show Description:

The show will consist of a narrated story, live music, and projected illustrations, a question and answer portion will follow the show. The story will be narrated by the singer while related illustrations are projected on a screen for the audience to view. The narration is supported by sound effects which lead into live music. There is factual information about the American Black Bear that will be discussed after the performance. There will also be an educational demonstration of the instruments used; audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding all aspects of the show.

Past performances: Brooklyn Museum, NY. March 2010

August Wilson Center, PA. October 2010 featuring violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain
