Also on view at the fair’s entrance will be a sculptural installation by artist Ben Wolf presented by the gallery as a specially commissioned “PULSE Project.” At the Fountain Art Fair in Booth M-5, the gallery presents a joint installation of new work by New York artist Brian Leo and Philadelphia artist Mark Price. PULSE: NEW YORK

Booth B-2: Beka Goedde
In a solo booth presentation at PULSE: New York, CHRISTINA RAY presents a collection of new work by artist Beka Goedde including works on paper and panel along with large-scale mixed media pieces incorporating collaged etchings, hand-dyed paper and linework in ink and graphite. In a catalogue essay written to accompany the work at PULSE, Tamsen Greene describes Goedde’s interest in “the moment of transference between an idea and an image, when a sense or feeling becomes visual; the moment an abstract concept becomes a discernable form.” (Catalogue available upon request). Goedde’s work has been presented in two solo exhibitions with the gallery and she is currently an artist-in-residence at PS122.

At the fair entrance: Ben Wolf
Ben Wolf's site-specific installation for PULSE takes shape around an eighteen-foot long ship's hull salvaged from an abandoned vessel in Newark. Wooden wall boards, scrap metal, discarded doors and other found, architectural detritus are stacked and layered into the work on a welded steel armature to create an abstract, three-dimensional collage rich in texture and curvilinear dimension. Wolf's journeys to zones of abandonment and destruction – from forgotten local shipyards to downtown Detroit to the mountains of Haiti – reveal a deep creative instinct to explore and understand on a physical level the effects of time over material. As he rescues beauty from chaos, Wolf constructs a spirited new aesthetics within a world of forgotten industrial wreckage.

PULSE takes place March 03–06 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in the heart of Manhattan's Flatiron District. Fair hours and directions may be found on the PULSE website: http://www.pulse-art.com/

FOUNTAIN ART FAIR

Leo, a self-proclaimed “Garage-Pop Surrealist,” offers a large-scale presentation of small paintings addressing the complex psychologies of global culture, contemporary politics and American identity. The installation offers a preview of the new body of work to be presented in his first solo show with the gallery later in March. Price, a long-standing gallery artist, offers a new edition of hand-pulled black and white silkscreen prints depicting techno-social disaster and a wheatpaste installation of print work and three-dimensional letter forms spelling the word “FANTASY.”

Fountain takes place March 03–06 at Pier 66 Maritime @ 26th Street & 12th Avenue in the Hudson River Park. Fair hours and directions may be found on the Fountain website: http://www.fountainexhibit.com/
