Press release - Down by the river - group exhibition - Focus Theatre - 6 Pembroke Place, Dublin 2 - Feb 17 to March 5th

Fire & Ice Theatre Company (www.fireandicetheatre.com), in association with the Focus Studio Company is proud to present an evening of theatre and art in the newly renovated Focus Theatre. The two plays, both written and directed by award winning Irish playwright, Paul Kennedy and produced by Lisa McNamee are 'Be My Love in the Rain', starring Linda Teehan and 'Down by the River', starring Michael Bates.

Art Curator Olivier Cornet (www.olliart.com) in collaboration with the Fire & Ice Theatre Company and the Focus Studio Company will present an exhibition of drawings, etchings, paintings and photographs by artists who have accepted to respond to the script of "Down by the River" or whose recent work has a resonance with the main themes of the play. The artists include Yoko Akino, Leila Pedersen, Adrienne Symes, John Fitzsimmons, Jordi Forniés, Stephen Kane, Desmond Kenny, Bartosz Kolata and Kelvin Mann.

Matt's marriage is teetering on the brink of collapse. His wife Suzie is restless, feels that her life is static. She wants to do something. An enrollment in a night class leads to a bizarre sequence of events that threatens to push their marriage over the brink. Matt is led on a merry chase in search of a love that may already be lost.

'Down By the River' is set in a world that is simultaneously real and bizarre; it's about art and love, it's about loss and 'installations'.
