An exhibition of the latest paintings by Cathryn McEwen which
explores the theme of dogs painted in her unique style - a style which captures their deeper personalities through movement and closeups. This series of paintings was inspired by stray dogs in the south of Italy and especially the dogs of the small town of Martignano where they have been 'adopted' and cared for by the town. Artist Cathryn McEwen reflects these sentiments in her poignant body of work, entitled Dogma. Cathryn McEwen has been a Premiere Portfolio Member at absolutearts.com since 2006.

"You don't have to be a pet owner to feel a special connection with Dogs, and one shouldn't take this connection for granted, but honour it and learn from it."
Throughout history, these animals have been associated with possessing our more positive human traits, such as protectiveness, guidance, loyalty, generosity, and companionship. In turn, their inherent traits evoke these positive emotions within us.
Hence Cathryn McEwen's personal dogma:
"It is disappointing that our capacity to feel this basic instinctive bond with this animal is not practiced with our fellow man in our everyday global existence. This leads me to conclude and therefore believe, that Dogs probably possess a higher intelligence."
"Cani - vivere con loro, non potrei vivere senza di loro"
("Dogs - can live with them, couldn't live without them.") - C McEwen, 2011
