PENNDESIGN FINE ARTS LECTURE SERIES @ ICA
WITH MIKA ROTTENBERG
Thursday, February 17 @ 6pm
Hear renowned artists speak about their work as this popular series of public lectures continues this
evening with Mika Rottenberg.
Video artist
Mika Rottenberg stages fictional worlds that evoke children's playhouses. But her whimsical wonderlands peopled with odd characters and make-believe-logic expose a satirical underside to her work. Born in Buenos Aires in 1976, Rottenberg lives and works in New York. She holds a BFA from the School of
Visual Arts (2000) and an MFA from Columbia University (2004).
A monographic
exhibition entitled
Mika Rottenberg: Dough cheese squeeze and tropical breeze. Video works 2003-2010 will open at de Appel Arts Centre, Amsterdam in March 2011.
MIRANDA // THE ICA BLOG
Over the last few weeks, ICA's blog
Miranda has
been exploring what it means to curate a show, especially in relation to the recent exhibition
Set Pieces. Set Pieces is closed, but to continue the conversation it sparked, read Miranda's
take on what the exhibition had common with
Nashville, Robert Altman's 1975 masterpiece of cinema.
"I'm trying to avoid gushing about this film," Virgil Marti says.
