Large Gallery :
Andrea Jenkins
Comings and Goings
Until Saturday 19 February

Everyone loves Melbourne’s lanes, none more than Andrea Jenkins. Jenkins takes us to some of the most intriguing spaces in Melbourne, not just the hidden lanes, but also the subterranean world  of escalators, stairwells and passages leading to our underground stations. Her protagonist is a solitary traveller through these spaces.

Small Gallery : Hilary Senhanli
Crowds
Until Saturday 19 February

In contrast, in the small gallery Hilary Senhanli takes us into a vibrant world of Crowds using her own invention, a curious drawing implement which she uses to drizzle a liquid black line. The dancing line creates an immediacy, and vibrancy, crowding the drawings with life, waves of people washed together, little pockets of community, and companionship.

Coming up in the gallery and theatre in February and March

Verses Between Heavenly Beings

Verses Between Heavenly Beings explores the astounding cultural heritage of Dunhuang,  in Western China, which is the site of the Mogao shrine. Settled by Buddhist monks around the third century AD, the shrine contains over 45000 square metres of paintings, and thousands of Buddha sculptures.

Verses Between Heavenly Beings is thefirst in a series of exhibitions of contemporary art from China presented in association with MEOU Art.
