From Friday, 25 February, the day of
vernissage, to 16 April 2011 the Michele Balmelli Gallery, Lugano, presents the
work of the artists Collective Indigène (Andréanne Oberson
&
Jean-Marie Reynier), Défense de nourrir les pigeons
dans l’enceinte de la galerie.
The Exhibition of Collective
indigène is made of post-contemporary “cabinet des
curiosités”. The artists departed from the imaginary universe
-which is theirs-, walking through the unknown land in search for the truth.
Meanwhile they've bumped into verbal images, idols, borders, languages, which
have enriched their imagination. Vanity becomes archipelagos, chimeras, and
divinity... All of which awakens the very existential conscience in front of a
living theatre, made of images and intersection of signs, in a purely linguistic
and visceral sense. The exhibition is accompanied by this text of Italian author
Chiara Zocchi, who offered her talent to Andréanne Oberson & Jean-Marie
Reynier:

The
crucifixion is an embrace, thrust by vertical air.
It shouldn't be perceived as a body,
with physiognomic borders and filled
colours,
but as a position taken by
"someone, who is able to save"
respect to his contemplative.
That is why Jesus
Christ,
but also
Superman,
and even the
Hulk,
and even Flash,
and even Spiderman,
and even the
Invisible
Man.
And even the
Batman.
Would be able to save, and exactly for
this,
they are relinquished in the
air.
It has been such a gesture, the very position of
extreme humbleness.
Any kind of
thing or person,
that assumes the
position of crucifixion, while being able to SAVE,
becomes humble, not humiliatable.
The
head is inclined to one side in a oblique profile, which means many
things;
"Things" in themselves do
not convey the
very
expression,
but the position (that
of the head, in this
case).
Sometimes it happens also with the objects,
Seeing them in a certain position and feeling sorry for
them-THEM.
The position expresses
by itself;
For instance, a pan
leaning against the dish drainer,
in such unsafe position, makes us worry about it- IT.
And
then,
These superheroes are all, on their own,
Next to them, there stands no
mother.
(By the way: no one knows if these superheroes have
their mothers)
There is not even a friend, "San Giovanni",
Superheroes are envied by everyone, and anyway
they are ALONE.
Perhaps one of them
might have a girlfriend.
Nevertheless that Indigène crucified all of them
solitarily,
with the emptiness
around,
there remains the fact that
the emptiness is, indeed, Something.

pigeons dans l’enceinte de la galerie.
L’esposizione
del Collectif Indigène, si costruisce come una sorta di “cabinet
des curiosités” post- contemporaneo. Gli artisti sono partiti in un
universo immaginario che è il loro, e camminando per terre incognite,
alla ricerca di una verità verbale si sono imbattuti in immagini, idoli,
confini, linguaggi che ne hanno arricchito l’immaginario. Vanità
che diventano arcipelaghi, chimere, divinità... il tutto in una chiave
prettamente linguistica e viscerale per aumentare la coscienza di essere davanti
ad un teatro vivente fatto di immagini e incroci di segni. L’esposizione
è accompagnata da questo testo dell’autrice italiana Chiara Zocchi,
che ha offerto i suoi talenti
ad
Andréanne Oberson e Jean-Marie Reynier:

La crocifissione è un abbraccio schiacciato
dall’aria verticale.
Essa non
deve essere percepita come un corpo,
con dei bordi fisiognomici e dei colori riempitivi.
Ma come una posizione che "Qualcuno che è in
grado di salvare"
ha assunto
rispetto ai Suoi contemplatori.
Ecco perché Gesù
Cristo,
ma anche
Superman,
e anche Hulk,
e anche Flash,
e anche Spiderman,
e anche L'uomo invisibile.
E anche Batman.
Sarebbero tutti in
grado di salvare,
e proprio per
questo si sono arresi all’aria.
E' stato un gesto, un
posizionamento, di estrema umiltà.
Qualunque cosa o persona,
che assuma la posizione della crocifissione pur potendo
salvare,
diventa umile e quindi
non-umiliabile.
La
testa è inclinata su un lato, in
un
profilo obliquo che vuol dire tante cose.
"Cose" che non è l'espressione ad esprimere,
ma la posizione (in questo caso della
testa).
A volte succede anche con gli oggetti,
di vederli in una certa posizione e di provar
pena per essi-loro.
Che la
posizione cioè esprima.
Che
per esempio una pentola che si inclina nello scolapiatti,
assumendo una posizione pericolante,
ci faccia preoccupare per essa-lei.
E poi.
E poi questi
supereroi sono soli.
Di fianco a
loro non c'è la madre.
(Peraltro: non si sa se un supereroe abbia madre)
Non c'è nemmeno un amico, tipo San
Giovanni.
I supereroi sono
invidiati da tutti, e dunque sono soli.
Forse qualcuno di loro ha una fidanzata.
Sta di fatto che Indigène li ha crocifissi da
soli,
col vuoto intorno.
Ma è pur vero che il vuoto è
Qualcosa.
