Weekend Brunch at Halcyon 

Before visiting the galleries, enjoy a leisurely brunch at Halcyon, Flavors from the Earth, located at the Mint Museum Uptown. Chef Marc Jacksina brings to your plate house-crafted lamb sausages, duck-fat hash, and Old Guilford Mills grits, all brimming with 

artistic flavors. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays. For each brunch plate served, Halcyon will donate food to a local shelter.

Dance and choir performers from Johnson C. Smith University will present a centennial tribute to African-American artist and Charlotte native Romare Bearden (1911-1988).

The new Mint Hispanic Authors Book Club is open to the public and meets the fourth
Monday of each month. February's meeting features a lively discussion of La multitud errante/A Tale of the Dispossessed by Laura Restrepo, led by Dr. Michelle Shaul,

Through 31 December 2011 

As Renaissance art styles of the 15th century spread from Italy to Northern Europe, they
adapted to accommodate local artistic preferences and cultural ideals. In addition to
portraits and historical scenes, this intimate exhibition showcases popular scenes of
peasant life, townscapes, pastoral landscapes, still lifes, and maritime paintings, among
other fascinating works.

Adult Studio Art Series: Life Drawing Anatomy Class 

Two-Part Series: Tuesdays, 1 & 8 March | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Learn to analyze basic form in drawing the human figure with artist Donald Rhodes. Model and materials provided.

 

Teen Art Class: Journeyman 

Saturday, 5 March | 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

Mint Museum UPTOWN

Tuition per session: Members $60 | Non-members $75 

Designed for ages 14-16 with an emphasis on breadth of exploration, this workshop will
alternate between 2-D and 3-D activities. Journeyman is offered three times (5 March, 2 April, and 7 May), and may be taken individually or as a series.

 

Teen Art Class: Personal Voice  

Saturday, 5 March | 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. 

Mint Museum UPTOWN

Tuition per session: Members $60 | Non-members $75 

Designed for ages 16-18 with an emphasis on concept and intent, this workshop alternates between 2-D and 3-D activities. Personal Voice is offered three times (5 March, 2 April, and 7 May), and may be taken individually or as a series.
