Open Satellite and Henry Art Gallery Care.
We apologize if you've received this message twice!
We realize that many of you are on the Henry list - AND Open Satellite's list. But the Henry and Open Satellite wanted to make sure you know about this change in schedule.
Due to inclement weather and icy roads we are postponing our Drinks and Discussion program this evening. Instead, please join us at Open Satellite this Saturday, February 26 at 5pm.
Drinks and Discussion
Saturday, February 26, 5 PM
@ Open Satellite
Free admission
As part of our ongoing relationship with the Henry Art Gallery, we invite you to a causal discussion in the gallery with Henry Art Gallery Curator Sara Krajewski, the still night air Guest Curator Michael Van Horn, and Mitzi Pederson.
Sara Krajewski will take guests through the exhibition of Pederson's work and will be joined by Michael Van Horn and Mitzi Pederson for a conversation afterward.
/////
Mitzi Pederson's visually compelling collages and three-dimensional constructions explore and emphasize chance, tension and balance. Pederson manipulates and combines diverse common materials such as cinder block, plywood, cellophane, photographs, glue, string and glitter - exploring each component's tendencies and inherent physical properties. Line, color, material and space are used to emphasize her desire to blend drawing and sculpture. When complete, her work balances and highlights the properties of the component materials to create a tenuous state of equilibrium and potential movement.
Pederson's ensuing body of work at Open Satellite responds dynamically to the exhibition environment, taking advantage of the volume and scale of the galleryand her concomitant experience as a temporary resident of the Northwest.
