Bradley Symphony Orchestra concert March 6

Peoria, IL (February 25, 2011) The Bradley Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Mr. Brian Dollinger, will present a concert on Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue.

The Orchestra will perform a variety of symphonic works and will include winners of the annual concerto/aria student competition.  The winners are Sarah Casey performing the Fantasie for Flute by Hue; Cheryl Rodey performing the Concerto for Trumpet by Pakhmutova; and Jenna Ferdon performing the first movement from Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2.  The concert will conclude with one of the most famous symphonic works ever written:  Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor.  The fateful motive that is legendary will fill the Dingeldine Music Center as the BSO unleashes their energy and passion for performance.

This is the fifth year that the Bradley Symphony Orchestra has been under the direction of Mr. Dollinger.  A native of Morton, Illinois, he first performed with the BSO as a double bassist in the late 1980’s under the direction of Dr. John Jost. Mr. Dollinger is the instructor of double bass, and conducting at Bradley, and also is the music director and conductor of the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra (IA), Clinton Symphony Orchestra (IA), and the Conductor of the Central Illinois Youth Symphony.

This concert is a part of the Music Scholarship Concert Series. Admission is $5 for adults, and free for students.  For further information, call 309.677.3594 or send email to bdollinger@bradley.edu.
