34nd Annual Student Art Exhibition
Opens Saturday, March 5 at the Woodson Art Museum

WAUSAU, WISCONSIN: Colorful and imaginative artwork of 196 north central Wisconsin students in grades 5-8 will be on view in the 34nd annual Student Art Exhibition opening March 5 at the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau. The geographical region covered reaches from Manitowish Waters to Wisconsin Rapids. Art teachers are encouraged to submit up to four student works for the exhibition. Students express fresh inventiveness in their use of line, color, shape, pattern, texture, and design.

Two receptions to celebrate student accomplishments will be held on Thursday, March 3, from 4-6 pm and Saturday, March 5, 1-3 pm. The public is invited to stop in, congratulate participants, and support their creativity. The Student Art Exhibition remains on view through March 27.

Students in north central Wisconsin benefit from access to strong art programs at every grade level taught by art educators who respect the basics, yet keep lessons fresh and current.

This year's artworks are colorful, amusing, and imaginative. Students express their ideas in vivid masks, whimsical pottery, and brightly-hued weavings, and in creative depictions of portraits in two dimensions.
