"Crossings : Recent Works by Andrew Binkley"
2011-03-03 until 2011-06-24
Contemporary Museum, Honolulu at First Hawaiian Center
Honolulu, HI, USA United States of America

The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu is pleased to announce the exhibition of Andrew Binkley's latest body of artwork entitled 'Crossings'. Throughout Binkley’s work as an artist, he has utilized a variety of media and approaches to uncover and explore our notions of time and patterns of human behavior. In 'Crossings', Binkley brings into play the time-based media of photography and video to observe the seen and unseen traces between people on the streets below.

Through the use of an overhead perspective and layering multiple photographs and video of people passing by on their daily routines, Binkley works with the themes of intersecting or sharing paths, and integrating or transforming relationships, as well as the unknown or transient connections between people through time.

This exhibition will feature Binkley’s works during his time in Suzhou, China and Honolulu, Hawaii, USA where he documented the patterns of people’s movements within various times and locations throughout these two distant cities.

Coinciding with the exhibition will be the release of Binkley’s monographic book entitled Crossings. This publication is made possible through an award granted to Andrew Binkley by Carol McCusker PhD, Curator of Photography at the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego through the support of Blurb.
