Bradley Saxophone Quintet, Symphonic Band to perform March 8

Peoria, IL (March 1, 2011) The Bradley Saxophone Quintet and Symphonic Band will present a performance on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue.  Tickets are $5 for adults and free to students.  Tickets are available at the door or in advance by contacting the Cultural Events Box Office at 309-677-2650.

The Saxophone Quintet is comprised of instructor Keith M. Zimmerman, soprano saxophone, and four students: Russell L. Zehr, alto saxophone, Graymont, Illinois, Daniel S. Young, alto saxophone, Metamora, Rebecca S. Bucklin, tenor saxophone, Peoria, and Dustin Ahrends, baritone saxophone, Pontiac. They will perform  Lisbon by Percy A. Grainger, Pavane by Gabriel Faure, and Intermezzo from Quintet, op. 111 by Johannes Brahms.

The 85-member Symphonic Band will perform "Inchon" and "In A Gentle Rain" by Robert W. Smith, a tapestry from "Homages" by David Holsinger and  "Latina" by Frank Bencriscutto.

Keith M. Zimmerman is a saxophone professor at Bradley and  Illinois Wesleyan University.  He is the former director of the highly respected Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band programs at Lincoln, District 27 schools, a position he held for 33 years until late May, 2000.  He continues to be in demand as a private saxophone teacher for many students from a large geographical area of central Illinois and has served the Illinois Music Educator's Association as saxophone auditioner for the All State festival bands for 29 years.
