Opening new PhotoLab exhibition

Taste my photons...

With guest curator Wim Bosch

Noorderlicht is known for its penetrating, socially engaged exhibitions. With Taste my photons... the attention shifts to the photographic medium itself in a most surprising manner. With the work of nine photographers from The Netherlands and other countries, the guest curator, the visual artist Wim Bosch, explores the boundaries between documentary photography and visual art.

The exhibition is the fourth initiative in the Noorderlicht PhotoLab, which provides space for investigations and experiments in the field of photography in the slipstream of the regular programming.

Double lecture: Ken Schles & Jeffrey Silverthorne

Sunday, 13 March

free admission

Precisely a week later, on Sunday, 13 March, you can return to Noorderlicht for another fascinating afternoon of photography. We have two photographers as our guests, who are certainly not unfamiliar names for photography-lovers: Ken Schles and Jeffrey Silverthorne. In the course of their careers both have developed strong and highly individual outlooks on photography. That is reason for Noorderlicht to devote attention to these two grand masters with a book and exhibition later in 2011. Before we reach that point, on 13 March you can already enjoy a foretaste of what awaits you!

Ken Schles' latest book A New History of Photography (2008) was included in Photo-Eye Magazine's list of best photo books of 2008. Vince Aletti in the New Yorker described his first monograph Invisible City as 'hellishly brilliant'.
