Hotel del Arte's Josep Puigmarti is holding an exhibition at the International Convention Centre of Barcelona (CCIB), where until mid-April one may admire a selection of paintings and sculptures created by the multifaceted artist. With regard to the artist's paintings, we find the collection of "Pearls of the Big Bang," large-scale works (5 x 2 meters) and his series "Alien Fashion" with unreal characters, in both cases they have been created from non-premeditated strokes and gestures with surrealistic automatisms. In his role as a sculptor, Puigmarti offers to visitors his vision, in this case more dadaist that surreal, of characters created from very diverse objects that the
artist has set out and equipped with new reading, assembled as "premeditated accidental".
Beyond being an important artist of the second half of the twentieth century,
he is truly committed to the work of cooperating in the social and culture
education through his painting and sculpture. In his hands, any object is
integrated in a harmonious environment in which he shows us his idea of a
better world, where characters appear in attitudes that evoke the love between
people. In this exhibition, cans, paper, cardboard, tires, cans, aerosols and
old furniture become living, breathing sculptures that convey the way of
seeing the world by their creator.
His works do not claim the cruelty of life, but the humanistic vision loss and
reunion against the chaos of everyday life. The artist, through his own
experience and feelings alludes, in a metaphorical sense peace, integration,
culture and tolerance in an increasingly globalized world and most in need of
a unifying concept, set here as the love for nature and our home, planet Earth.
