KENOSHA, WI – The Kenosha Public
Museum will offer two bus trips in April. On Thursday, April 7, the
destination is “Mummies of the World”, the largest exhibition of
mummies and related artifacts ever assembled at the Milwaukee Public
Museum. This compelling collection, presented with reverence and
dignity, includes ancient mummies and important artifacts from Asia,
Oceania, South America, Europe, as well as ancient Egypt, dating as
far back as 6,500 years. Through modern science, engaging interactive
and multimedia exhibits, the exhibition reveals how the scientific
study of mummies provides a window into the lives of ancient people
from every region of the world. The cost of the trip includes the
exhibit audio tour, a gourmet box lunch and the “Stars of the
Pharaohs” planetarium presentation. The trip takes place from 8
a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of trip is $85 or $70 for Friends of the Museums.
Advance registration is required by March 22.
The Wisconsin Historical Society
Library & Archives is the destination for a bus trip to conduct
genealogy research with instructor Jean Hoffmann. The trip takes
place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 19. The visit offers the
chance to explore different materials available for research. Archive
computers have ancestry.com and familysearch.com website access for
federal census records and immigrant passenger lists. Wisconsin
newspapers are available on microfilm. Archives also contain sources
for many areas, including city directories, phone books, and other
books authored on local history and cemeteries. Those wishing to make
any photocopies or computer printouts will be required to purchase a
copy card for $1; money can then be added to the card to pay for
copies. Lunch will be on your own. Cost of the trip is $50 or $40 for
Friends of the Museums. Advance registration required by April 4.
