Louis Jansen Van Vuuren, considered one of South Africa's most
established artists, began exhibiting in the 1960s throughout South
Africa, and abroad in France, the UK, the USA, Monte Carlo and
Luxemburg. Louis & Students, Artists in the Making is a group show that
employs the Main and Long Gallery.

"The idea for this exhibition started taking shape when I presented a
series of specialised drawing classes at Louise Henning's Atlier-in
Green Point almost a year ago. To My surprise some of the students had
attended the University of Stellenbosch's school of Creative art when I
taught painting and History of Art, thirty years ago! While the rest of
the group consisted of eager artists in the making and a student in my
studio at La Creuzette in the country side of central France. This
exhibition sprung to life out of this special group's energy and
commitment with which they approached the workshop, inspiring me as both
teacher and artists to facilitate this project."

Sonja Rademeyer presents Looking to See in the Artstrip. This mixed
media body of work investigates the body's visceral reaction to images
of violence. Rademeyer attempts to track her own saccadic eye-movements
through her hand movements as she reacts to selected violent newspaper
clippings. After completing the eye-movement drawings the original image
is erased leaving the viewer to imagine what the original image may or
may not have portrayed. Looking to See is part of Rademeyers ongoing
investigation on empathy and the body.
