An Evening with Tanusree Shankar Dance Company
Tuesday, March 15, 7:00 pm, Wang Theater

Dancing as One World at the Wang

logoBy marrying the grace and beauty of traditional Indian dances with the expressive elegance of modern western ballet, internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Tanusree Shankar leads her company in original, contemporary Indian choreography. This dynamic performance is complemented by the innovative music of her late husband Ananda Shankar, son of Uday Shankar, leading proponent of Indian Dance Ballet and nephew of Maestro Ravi Shankar. Inspired both by her illustrious lineage as much by the folk and regional dance forms of India, the performance aims to transcend all man made barriers to fulfill Ananda Shankar’s dream of "one world." This performance is presented under the auspices of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.
