Please join the ADSLA on Friday, April 8th between 6:00 and 8:00 for Cocktails
in Historic Places at the lovely Frontrunner Restaurant at Santa Anita Park.
Santa Anita Park opened on December 25, 1934, and provides
the backdrop for our Cocktails in Historic Places with the combination of a
world-class racetrack, timeless architecture, lush gardens and a breathtaking
mountain view. Santa Anita is not just a racetrack but a grand and beautiful
park blending Spanish-flavored, Art Deco architectural design by Gordon B.
Kaufmann with luscious landscaping and a wealth of art, topiaries and ornamental
sculptures.
The racetrack sequences in the Marx Brothers classic A
Day at the Races were filmed at the park, and many stars, including Bing
Crosby, Spencer Tracy, Errol Flynn, and MGM mogul, Louis B. Mayer, have owned
horses that raced
there.
Make a day of it, and take advantage of the park's Free
Friday. Come for the races (post time is 1 pm), pose for a photo with the statue
of Seabiscuit, dine at the FrontRunner Restaurant, and then stay for cocktails
(the perfect way to celebrate your winnings!)
Come straight from work or slip into something more
Deco—either way, plan to join us! Cocktails in Historic Places is open to
members and non-members
alike.
DIRECTIONS:
Santa Anita Park is located in Arcadia, California, 14 miles
