New American Pavilion highlights 15th Edition of SHANGHAI ART FAIR.

This year, for the first time in its history, Shanghai Art Fair will host the presence of a Pavilion exclusively devoted to North American Galleries titled American Pavilion. The American Pavilion will house prestigious galleries specializing in Contemporary and Modern Art of various origins representing the highest standards of talent the United States has to offer. Much like in previous editions, but now with an unprecedented American presence showcased alongside pavilions from Europe and Asia, this historic occasion offers an unparalleled opportunity for participant galleries to gain an enduring foothold in a rapidly rising market. The influential Shanghai Art Fair, held from September 14-18, 2011 at the Shanghai Mart, will offer a distinct art venue to the tens of thousands of visitors and countless domestic and international collectors attracted annually to this prominent cultural landmark. Shanghai Art Fair stands in a privileged position to invite you to contribute t! o bringing the best of what North America has to offer to the Chinese art consumer in the most promising Country in the world and the most rapidly growing market of the 21st Century.

The outreach literally to millions in Asia will be covered by Shanghai Art Fair's Marketing Committee which advertises, in more than 80 national and international magazines, as well as an extensive television campaign saturating the huge region. This year's event will also feature bleeding-edge technology offering social networking coverage on a truly global scale.

The American Pavilion is curated by Aldo Castillo, an established fine art dealer and art curator with more than 25 years of experience in managing, marketing and developing the arts. In January 2011, he served as the Associate Director of MIA - Miami International Art Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Castillo's visionary curatorial approach in seamlessly uniting Miami's vaunted art scene together with top-flight galleries representing 15 countries before an international audience during the Miami International Art Fair, earned him widespread critical acclaim, and contributed to cementing the event as a new art fair model for the 21st Century.

“This historic event represents a unique opportunity for participant galleries to access an ascending Art Market at a critical time” observes Aldo Castillo, Associate Director of the American Pavilion.

“The galleries that would be represented in this's year inaugural edition of the American Pavilion will experience an unprecedented possibility reaching a new generation of affluent Chinese and international collectors fueling record increase interest and sales in this explosive and dynamic market,” Castillo adds.

WHO: Shanghai Art Fair 2011 (15th), as Asia's celebrated art exchange with long history and high degree of global outreach, will be grandly held from Sept.14-18 at ShanghaiMART, continuing the scale as before, presenting domestic and overseas collectors a gorgeous art event in Shanghai as well. Established in 1997, Shanghai Art Fair has been successfully held under the support of Saulterretimized art event, which not only bridged the gap between the worldwide and Shanghai, public and art, but also shaped a paradigm for domestic art fairs.

WHY: One of the most prestigious and eagerly awaited events on China's cultural calendar, the SHANGHAI ART FAIR is universally hailed as being atop the most important international art events taking place in Asia every year.

Today, China has become the third largest art market in the world and is challenging the United States and Britain for prominence with its rising collector class and booming economy.

Where Chinese collectors once invested in traditional works of art, research shows that they are rapidly embracing the contemporary art market with a younger generation of affluent consumers driving record sales in this developing area.

Nowhere is the potential for a growing art market more prevalent than in China today where a population of over one billion has fueled a soaring economy the past two decades that currently ranks second only to the United States in spending power.
