"Cecil Herring - Retrospective 2 : Celebrating 80 Years"

Central Florida Multimedia Artist Cecil Herring will celebrate her 80th birthday and over 50 years as a working artist with a retrospective show of sculpture, painting, digital art and wearable art at Riverhouse Gift Gallery and Pottery in Sanford, FL with a reception opening March 25, 2011 6 to 8 p.m. Riverhouse will feature works from Cecil's first Spacescapes(c) sculpture show, welded garden sculptures along with recent paintings, landscapes and other unique one-of-a kind art works from her wearable art period. Cecil Herring has promoted her work with an absolutearts.com Premiere Portfolio since 2004.

Cecil also will show "American Brathic", a golden bra and "Alligator Shoes". Cecil has countless collectors in Florida, the US and Europe, including First Lady Betty Ford, wife of late President Gerald R. Ford. Cecil has had 33 solo shows in Orlando, Miami, San Francisco, New York, Florida, including Maitland Art Center, U.C.F., Brevard Community College, Seminole Community College, and Orlando Modern Art Collection. Cecil's works have been selected and shown in juried shows in China, New York State, Georgia and across the U.S.

Cecil Herring first Spacescapes(c) sculpture show of steel and plastic brought her early recognition with a solo show in New York that traveled to Stetson University at the invitation of Art Department Chairman Fred Messersmith, Miami's Gallery Three and in an exhibition at Air Force Space Museum at the Air Force Space Station.

Cecil continues to experiment using painting and sculptural techniques electroforming, welding, spraying plastics, casting, modeling forms and metallizing non metalilic surfaces. Her work is included on the NASA website and at www.mars 2030.net, invited and funded by the Planetary Society, White House, NASA, and the NEA.

Herring also exhibited in San Francisco's Mosconi Hall at SurFin, the Electroplaters Convention with electroformed sculpture and wearable art and traveled a second time to Mosconi after a national award for large format digital printing. This work is now part of the Kodak Collection in Rochester, New York. Cecil received a BA in Humanities and the Arts at U.C.F. and a certification of Digital Art at McFatter Technical School. The show is free and open to the public.
