Grand Union Ball features dances of the
Civil War Era

KENOSHA, WI – Patricia Lynch and
members of the West Side Victorian Dancers will teach the basics of
Civil War era dances during a workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday,
Apr. 16 at the Civil War Museum.
The class will feature basic dances of
the Civil War-era, including the waltz and Virginia Reel, along with
proper etiquette for a formal ball. Casual attire is fine and dance
partners are not required. Cost of the workshop is $10.
Later
in the day, the Civil War Museum Grand Union Ball will take place
from 7-10 p.m. Live music, desserts and beverages will be featured at
the ball, which is the kick-off to the Civil War Museum's Civil War
Sesquicentennial commemoration. Civil War era evening wear is
encouraged but not required. The band Frogwater will perform. The
band is made up of up John and Susan Nicholson. They describe their
musical style as “eclectic acoustic people's music,” including
Celtic, Delta Blues, classical and pop, along with original material.
Cost is $25. Advance registration is required for both events.
