Patina is excited to announce our long awaited 2011 exhibition calendar. It begins in June when Santa Fe warms and emerges from Spring's lingering cool.

11prata2
RALPH PRATA

Our first event, "Neo-Primitives," is an exhibition of new works from returning artist, Ralph Prata. The fluid lines of his carved aggregate sculptures blend Brancusi with the primitive sculptures of Mesoamerica. We are thrilled to have Prata rejoin the gallery after a several year hiatus. "Neo-Primitives" opens Friday, June 24.

July's languid days, warm evenings and extravagant sunsets create the backdrop for the season's first performances at the world renowned Santa Fe Opera and other stand out summer events like the contemporary art exposition, Art Santa Fe and the International Folk Art Market.

CLAIRE KAHN

Concurrent with the highly anticipated return of SOFA West: Santa Fe, Patina opens "Temptations," an exhibition of crocheted bead necklaces and bracelets by San Francisco jewelry artist Claire Kahn. She is new to the gallery and her Miyuki bead creations, often rendered in patterns borrowed from snakes, have so excited our collectors that her audience is already enormous. Her jewelry is utterly unique in its exotic detail and sensuous ease of wear. "Temptations"
opens July 8.

11polly2
POLLY WHITCOMB

Patina's second July exhibition presents with beautifully composed wall sculptures from New Mexico artist Polly Whitcomb, who uses found objects foraged from arroyos and road-sides. "Reverence for Rust" will feature new works in which she combines weathered sections of wood and rusted metal with clay elements of her own fabrication. We celebrate almost four years with the artist and have been privileged to place her works in collections as distant as Tokyo and Paris. "Reverence for Rust" opens July 29.

TODD REED

Santa Fe rocks in August and so does Patina. Todd Reed and Peter Schmid, of Atelier Zobel, "Rock the House," with their sought after precious jewelry, with raw and colored diamonds, rare gems, high carat gold, platinum and silver. Both artists have established international reputations with jewels that are at times over the top opulent and at others, understated, and certain to become signature pieces of the women who wear them. Scheduled to coincide with Santa Fe's renowned Indian Market, this exhibit featuring two young artists, one from Colorado, the other from Germany, is sure to cause a sensation. "Rock the House" opens August 17.

In early autumn, the Santa Fe sky is more blue than seems possible and the lush aspens above town begin their slow transformation to deep yellow-gold. The town still bustles with visitors but feels calmer and more intimate. During September, the famed Santa Fe Chile and Wine Fiesta delights food and wine lovers from around the world with culinary adventures of the highest order and Patina opens exhibitions of works from two award winning artists, Andrea Williams and Laura Foster Nicholson.

11williams2
ANDREA WILLIAMS

Andrea Williams, from Maine, uses beach stones combined with silver and high karat gold to create works of jewelry practically crafted by Nature herself. She allows her materials their own voice by embellishing them with a delicate touch. Collectors find the subtle directness and refinement of her work refreshing. Just in the past year, this young artist has been nominated for numerous important honors, including two Saul Bellow awards. She is also included in a juried exhibition, titled "Geography," for the Society of North American Goldsmiths.  Her exhibition, "Stones," opens
September 2.

11nicholson
LAURA FOSTER NICHOLSON

Indiana artist Laura Foster Nicholson has been with the gallery since 1999 and continues to inspire with her intricate hand-woven tapestries. Textile connoisseurs marvel at her work and appreciate the folk references of her gardens, jars of tomatoes, gardening tools and the like. With "Beeing Here," she introduces new work that explores a deeper emotional experience, sometimes evoking an almost surreal tone. Nicholson is the first textile artist to win the Leone di Pietra Award at the Venice Biennale. "Bee-ing Here" opens October 7.

11heinrich2
BARBARA HEINRICH

Finally, between the year end holidays of Christmas and the New Year, when Santa Fe is a wonderland of snow draped hills and sparkling colored lights, New York artist Barbara Heinrich will bring even more color and sparkle to her exhibit, "Splendiferous." Her juicy, colored gem, diamond and 18k gold jewelry will surely delight collectors of beautiful things. Trained in Germany, Heinrich's works reflect a meticulous precision and an elegant sense of scale and proportion. "Splendiferous" opens December 23.

Now in its twelfth year, Patina is thrilled to have such an exciting exhibition calendar to share with friends and clients. We look forward with confidence that 2011 will be one of our best years yet!
