ESPRIT: A Taste of Art, opens March 26 – April 16, 2011

ESPRIT: A Taste of Art is the Museum of Nebraska Art’s homage to those contemporary artists working in the hand-crafted media. Featuring 12 artists whose creations will be available for sale at a culminating event on April 16, 2011, the 40 artworks in the exhibition showcase ceramic, fiber, glass, jewelry, wood, assemblage. Each artist is masterful in utilizing his or her medium, resulting in a group of outstanding pieces that extol creativity as well as technique.

The artists are:

ESPRIT: A Taste of Art has a two-fold purpose: to feature the work of talented artists who have a connection to Nebraska and to provide an opportunity to purchase their works – giving support to both the artists and to the Museum for its upcoming exhibitions and programs.

The Chairs for ESPRIT: A Taste of Art are Jeanne and Pat Salerno of Omaha. Plans for the concluding weekend include a festive Art Sale on October 16 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the art pieces sold in both live and silent auctions. On Sunday morning, a champagne brunch will recognize long time and dedicated MONA Board Member Emeritus Carl Rohman with the Museum’s first Spirit of MONA Award.
