You are warmly invite to
join Elliot Collins and Bartley + Company
Art
at the opening of Elliot's first solo exhibition in
Wellington
What I want and what I
need
5.30 - 7.30 pm Tuesday 29 March
2011
For this exhibition, Elliot has produced 40 small paintings
and three larger ones – compound creations that combine painterly gesture
with his unashamedly romantic, but also wry and witty, musings on desire. In
these challenging times and a world full of horrific imagery, these paintings
generate moments of quiet and warmth, daydreams that take us to an inner world
where, ironically, the gap between needs and wants may not be as large or
material as is often assumed.
[all paintings are acrylic on canvas and the small
ones as per those above are all 400 x
300mm]
Elliot has also written and
produced, A Small Book Consisting of Far Too Many Footnotes,
which will be launched at the
opening.
Although this is his first solo
exhibition in Wellington, Elliot’s work was seen twice here last year with
10 works in a group show in the gallery (all sold) and a major 14-metre
installation at City Gallery
Wellington.
Elliot will give a floor talk
about his work at 12.30pm on Tuesday 29 March in the
gallery.
Please note that this precedes the
opening.
If you would like advance images of the works,
please contact the
gallery.
