Elvis Presley Enterprises
Memphis, TN,
USA United States of America
In honor of the 55th anniversary of 1956, Elvis
Presley Enterprises is inviting Elvis fans to get out their paintbrushes,
cameras and other creative tools to create a work of art that symbolizes
Elvis’ revolution in 1956. From painting and photography to sculpture and
pencil drawings, the contest is open to every form of art.
1956 was a whirlwind year for Elvis who had only begun breaking new ground
with his unique performance and vocal style. Remarkably, 55 years ago, Elvis
enjoyed his first RCA single and national hit, "Heartbreak Hotel"; his first
album, "Elvis Presley"; his first movie, "Love Me Tender"; and his first
television appearances on The Dorsey Brothers' "Stage Show," "The Milton Berle
Show," "The Steve Allen Show" and "Ed Sullivan."
To enter the contest, contestants need to visit Elvis.com/revolution to submit
their Elvis in 1956 artwork as a jpg or pdf using the form on the contest
page. The deadline for entries is April 28, 2011. Once all artwork has been
received, a judging panel will select their favorite submissions that best
represent Elvis in 1956.
The top entries will be selected and posted on Elvis.com for fans to vote
using their Facebook “Like” button on the works of art they think best
represent Elvis’ most revolutionary year. The artist of the work receiving the
most ‘Likes’ will be awarded the grand prize, valued at over $7,000.
“What better way to celebrate this revolution in entertainment?” said Scott
Williams, Vice President of Marketing for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. “We
look forward to seeing all this amazing art posted in one place, online as a
creative tribute to Elvis’ life and legacy.”
Included in the list of prizes for the winner is an all-expenses paid trip to
Memphis for Elvis Week 2011 that includes a VIP tour of Graceland plustickets
