Dale Chihuly exhibit
closing Sunday

The time has come! Your last chance to see the exhibition Dale Chihuly: The Collection  is Sunday, and it will be closed for for a while. During that time Museum staff will be cleaning each and every piece and further documenting it while also making plans for our yearlong Tenth Anniversary Celebration.

The Collection Includes
  • 1,500 pieces of hand-blown glass
  • 18 glass installations, including walls, ceiling, cases, and groupings
  • Sixty 4' x 8' sheets of black Plexiglas
  • 2 fishing boats imported from Finland
  • 3 white bark silver maple logs
  • Ten 12-inch high stages (platforms)
  • 28 moveable walls
  • 3 enclosed cases, containing Seaform sets
  • 226 sq. ft. shatter proof glass ceiling for 40 ft. long Persian Ceiling display
  • 290 light fixtures

A Night with Nelson

Hear from John R. Berry, former vice president of corporate communications for Herman Miller and current executive director of Design West Michigan, who will speak to the principles behind George Nelson's approach to design, and enjoy Nelson's fond reminiscences of friends from the world of modern design.

Preceding the presentation, enjoy a social in the Museum Lobby with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, and view the Museum's special exhibition George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher.

There are just a few more seats for the May 6-7, 2011, trip to Kansas City to see Diana, A Celebration at the Kansas City Union Station and Monet's Water Lilies at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. More about the exhibits.
