LE PRIX POWERHOUSE a
pour but de souligner la pratique d’une femme* artiste de la région
montréalaise ayant atteint ou dépassé le stade de
mi-carrière. Il est destiné à une artiste qui a
contribué avec constance et de manière significative au milieu
culturel montréalais. Ce prix honore une personne qui a fait preuve de
persévérance et qui poursuit son oeuvre en demeurant fidèle
à sa vision. Le prix s’intègre au mandat de La Centrale
Galerie Powerhouse, un centre d’artistes ayant la vocation d’offrir
une plateforme pour les pratiques en art actuel portés par les discours
féministes, les théories du genre, la diversité culturelle
et la transdisciplinarité.

La Centrale portant sur sa
pratique artistique.

singularité d’une pratique
artistique influente
- promouvoir le travail d’une
artiste montréalaise
- célébrer la contribution sociale
et culturelle des femmes
artistes
CRITÈRES D’ADMISSIBILITÉ
Les nominées seront sélectionnées selon les critères
suivants:
- être une artiste âgée de 37 ans
et plus qui s’identifie comme
femme
- vivre dans la grande région de
Montréal à la date de nomination
- poursuivre une carrière
artistique professionnelle de
façon soutenue en arts visuels
depuis au moins 10 ans
(incluant les nouveaux médias,
l’art sonore et la performance)
- soutenir une pratique artistique
pertinente et de qualité qui
rayonne au delà du contexte
des institutions majeures
- la candidate doit être nominée
par une tierce
personne

LE PRIX POWERHOUSE
is an award celebrating women* artists who, having reached the mid-stage in
their career, continue to contribute in a significant and sustained way to the
cultural life of Montréal. The purpose of the prize is to recognize and
honour an individual artist of unique vision who pursues their practice with
determination and without compromise. The award is integral to the mandate of La
Centrale Galerie Powerhouse, an artist-run centre committed to providing a
platform for practices grounded in feminist discourse, gender theory, cultural
diversity and
multidisciplinarity.
THE AWARD INCLUDES
- $5,000
- an invitation to the laureat to
give a talk about their art
practice at La
Centrale
OBJECTIVES
- to recognize and support
women artists who have reached
at least mid-stage in their career
- to celebrate the vibrancy and
uniqueness of an influential
practice
- to promote the work of a
Montréal artist
- to celebrate the contribution
women artists make to social
and cultural
life
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible, nominees must meet the following criteria:
- be at least 37 years of age and
identify as a woman
- live within the Greater Montréal
area at the date of nomination
- have a practice in the visual arts
that spans more than ten years
(visual arts includes new media,
sound and performance)
- sustain a pertinent artistic
practice of quality that thrives
under the radar of major
cultural institutions in the city
- be nominated by a third
party
