The Waiting Panorama A workshop at SAWA.
				9 – 12 April 2011 The Waiting Panorama is a four-day film workshop revolving around the theatrical and cinematic genre of Tableau Vivant. The aim is to produce a film work, in collaboration with Danish artists Tina Helen and Soren Thilo Funder, that address the living situation of a Cairo citizen. Urban society is arranged in a long series of moments of waiting and for certain citizens the act of waiting even becomes a forced state of being. The typical waiting situation will be turned upside down in a series of “living pictures” generated collaboratively in the workshop. The act of waiting becomes the generator for discussions and interpretations – waiting for citizenship, waiting for democracy, waiting for love, waiting for answers, waiting for the bus, waiting for something unknown. The Waiting Panorama is not interested in “waiting” as a passive moment, but rather focuses on “waiting” as an active living movement. The workshop will range over the different aspects of filmmaking, so the participants will collectively work with script, acting, set design and production. The workshop will run for four days and all participants are expected to be present all days. Tina Helen is a visual artist based in Copenhagen. Her work emphasizes the importance of synthesising the practical and theoretical, in the understanding and production of images. She has worked internationally on numerous projects and collaborations within the field of activism, humanitarianism and fine arts. Tina Helen has a MA in Visualization from The Danish Design School and is currently doing a Master at the department of Art and Culture Studies at the University of Copenhagen. Previous projects include: Co-creator of the magazine ‘VisAvis’ - a publication that focus on migration and asylum in Denmark. Workshops with the children at MMCC Culture house in Kabul, Afghanistan. Concept development and design of a conflict resolution kit in collaboration with the Danish Conflict Resolution Centre. Set Design for various television and film productions. In November, 2010, Tina Helen arranged a workshop at the SAWA Outreach Program. Soren Thilo Funder is a visual artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. His works are audio-visual productions dealing with diverse cultural fields and integrating aspects of critical theory, literature, theater, cinema, political activism and other counter-cultural disciplines. Soren Thilo Funder has a MA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He has exhibited his works in international galleries, film festivals, museum exhibitions and public space exhibitions. He has been an artist-in-residency at Townhouse Gallery in Cairo, Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt Am Main and Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center in Istanbul. He was furthermore represented at the 2nd International Moscow Biennial for Young Art, the 6th International Liverpool Biennial and Manifesta 8. Consecutive to the workshop at SAWA, Soren Thilo Funder will present a solo exhibition of his own video works at The Townhouse Gallery.
				بانوراما الانتظار ورشة عمل فى سوا ٩ - ١٢ ابريل ٢٠١١ بانوراما الانتظار هى عبارة عن ورشة للأفلام من أربعة أيام تدور فكرتها حول موضوع "التابلوه الحى" فى المسرح والسينما. والهدف من الورشة هو انتاج فيلم بالتعاون مع الفنانين الدانماركيين تينا هيلين وسورين ثيلو فوندر. يناقش الفيلم أوضاع الحياة بالنسبة للمواطن القاهرى والحياة التى يعيشها سكان المدينة، والتى تتوالى فيها لحظات الانتظار فى شكل يلخص نمط حياتهم الاضطرارى. فى اطار تلك الورشة، سوف يتم قلب الموقف التقليدى للانتظار رأسا على عقب من خلال سلسلة من "الصور المعاشة" التى يتم انتاجها بشكل تعاونى فى الورشة. تشكل لحظات الانتظار المادة الأساسية للنقاش والتفسير – انتظار المواطنة، انتظار الديمقراطية، انتظار الحب، انتظار الرد، انتظار الحافلة، انتظار المجهول. ويلاحظ أن بانوراما الانتظار لا تعنى "بالانتظار" بوصفه لحظة سلبية وانما تركز على "الانتظار" بوصفه حركة ايجابية للحياة. تغطى الورشة عدة جوانب لفن صناعة الفيلم، حيث يتعاون المشاركون فى كتابة النص والتمثيل وتصميم المشاهد والانتاج. تستمر الورشة لمدة أربعة أيام ونتوقع من المشاركين التواجد فى كل تلك الأيام. تينا هيلين هى فنانة بصرية تقيم فى كوبنهاجن. وهى تركز فى عملها على أهمية التزاوج بين النظرى والعملى فى فهم وانتاج الصور. عملت الفنانة على نطاق عالمى فى عديد من المشروعات والأعمال المشتركة المتعلقة بممارسة السياسة والجهود الانسانية والفنون الجميلة. تينا هيلين حاصلة على ماجستير فى الفنون البصرية من مدرسة التصميم الدنماركية وهى حالية تعد شهادة الماجستير فى قسم الدراسات الفنية والثقافية فى جامعة كوبنهاجن. ومشاريعها السابقة تتضمن: التعاون فى انشاء مجلة "فيزافى" – وهى مطبوعة تركز على الهجرة واللجوء السياسى فى الدنمارك. وقد شاركت فى ورشات عمل مع الأطفال فى بيت للثقافة فى كابول، أفغانستان وعملت على تطوير المفاهيم وتصميم أدوات لحل المنازعات بالتعاون مع مركز الدنماركى لحل المنازعات وقامت بتصميم المشاهد لعدد من مشاريع الانتاج التليفزيونى والسينمائى. وقامت تينا هيلين بتصميم ورشة عمل لبرنامج "سوا" للتواصل الاجتماعى فى نوفمبر2010. سورين ثيلو فوندر هو فنان بصرى يعيش فى كوبنهاجن، الدانمارك. وله اعمال سمعية-بصرية تركز على مجالات ثقافية متنوعة على نحو يتضمن المزج بين الجوانب النظرية النقدية والأدب والمسرح والسينما والنشاط السياسى وغيرها من انواع المعارضة الثقافية. حصل ثورين ثيلو فوندر على ماجستير فى الفنون من الأكاديمية الملكية الدانمركية للفنون الجميلة. وقد عرضت أعماله فى العديد من الجاليريهات الدولية ومهرجانات السينما والمعارض بالمتاحف والأماكن العامة، كما شارك فى برامج استضافة الفنانين فى جاليرى التاونهاوس فى القاهرة وفى مركز الفنون فى فرانكفورت ومنصة "جارانتى" لمركز الفن المعاصر فى استنبول. وقد عرضت أعماله أيضا فى بيينالى موسكو الدولى الثانى للفنانين الشبان وفى بيينالى ليفربول الدولى السادس وفى مانيفستا 8. وبعد عمله فى الورشة فى "سوا"، سوف يقدم الفنان معرضا منفردا لأعمال الفيديو الخاصة به فى جاليرى التاونهاوس.
