FREE
Event
Come along to
Ipswich Art School on
Tuesday 12th April 2011, between 10am – 4pm and take part in a FREE
community drop-in workshop where people of all ages are invited to come along
and create artwork inspired by things they love about Ipswich. You will be making your mark on the Never Ending
Mural - an ambitious community project that will transform the face of
Ipswich.
The ideas that are
created on this day will contribute to the mural currently being painted on
Ipswich waterfront. This is a fantastic
opportunity to have your name alongside a celebration of your town and what it
means to you.
Proposed to Ipswich
Borough Council by a town centre youth group and local artist, the Never Ending
Mural will see community art installed at a number of locations across the town
for its residents and visitors to enjoy.
The Waterfront, Civic Drive
underpasses and Crown Street Car Park are the first areas that will brightened
up, but artist John D Edwards, who came up with the idea is keen to point out
that this will be a true community project;
“Having already been
inspired by the Fundraising Appeal to save the wonderful Ipswich Art School, I
then met St. Matthew’s Youth Group leader Cherie Parnell, who told me how
important this area was to them and that they had ideas to create a mural.’ So,
we approached the Council with an idea to help improve the town and support the
fundraising appeal, which they were very positive about. The hard work starts
now!”
The Waterfront phase
of the Never Ending Mural will be installed at the end of June, pending funding
support, ready for the opening weekend of
Ip-art.
There is no need to
book for this FREE workshop, just drop-in to the Ipswich Art School between 10am – 4pm on Tuesday
12th April and make your mark on the
mural.
