5 Questions
Rebecca Moore is a ceramics student. We caught her busy creating beauties for the wood firing next week.

Q: What music have you downloaded lately?
A: Dave Grisham (we're gonna see him Thursday), BG's disco, and Wade Morriset, Yoga. Quite a mix!

Q: What's your favorite form of petty crime?
A: Gorilla gardening: planting flower seeds with kids in parks, incognito.

Q: When are you most creative?
A: There's no rhyme or reason... not when I'm stressed.

Q: Are you good or bad at sports?
A: I don't know... I'm good at what I'm good at and bad at what I'm bad at!

Q: Would you rather be an artist or a millionaire?
A: Right now? Millionaire: to buy the land and help expand a Waldorf school for my kids and other kids.
Break something!
An art-making, seed-planting day for the whole family

Fun for All is a swarm of activity this Sunday. From 12 - 4pm enjoy drop-in art-making and performances for the whole family. The itinerary includes:

Workshops:
  • Make bugs out of felt, pipe cleaner and googly eyes
  • Cascarones are Easter eggs with a Latin twist. Fill eggs with confetti, small toys and glitter
  • Club House Signs announcing the coming of spring - no boys allowed!
Performances/programs
  • General Economy Exquisite Exchange (G.E.E.E) teaches the value of neighborly traditions by planting seedlings that can be exchanged for other goods. You can also bring baked goods to exchange for plants, seedling or starter dough for Amish bread.
  • Conrad Freiburg's SCUE Machine lets kids make then break their own small artworks.
  • CORE Project, contemporary dance collective, performs a duet from their latest work "Going Dutch." CORE members will perform, then do a short movement workshop based on the piece.
And best of all, everything is FREE!
The Hyde Park Art Center and the Chicago Artists Coalition recently partnered to create a reciprocal membership, providing even more exciting benefits to members of both organizations.

CAC's members have exhibited at dozens of venues, including Art Loop open, which awarded over $65,000 in prizes and expanded their skills through the A.B.C. series of professional development workshops designed to educate artists on the business of art, covering such vital topics as legal rights and protections, proposal writing, fiscal sponsorship, tax and record keeping, budget building, portfolio reviews, pricing work and more.

Be among the first to learn about our upcoming move to the vibrant, art-centric west loop and the launch of Bolt Residency, a one-year artist residency program consisting of nine studios and exhibition space with ongoing professional development programming. This dynamic program will be juried by the Art Center's very own Director of Exhibitions Allison Peters Quinn.
