A Night with Nelson

We still have a few seats left! Hear from John R. Berry, former vice president of corporate communications for Herman Miller and current executive director of Design West Michigan, who will speak to the principles behind George Nelson's approach to design, and enjoy Nelson's fond reminiscences of friends from the world of modern design. Preceding the presentation, enjoy a social in the Museum Lobby with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, and view the Museum's special exhibition George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher.

EXHIBITION
Tour de Quartz closing April 24
It seems like Tour de Quartz just opened ,but it will close soon on Sunday, April 24. The exhibit features 20 paintings and 18 photographs produced by Oklahoma high school students during their two-week residency at the 2010 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI). The paintings, rendered in acrylic, include self-portraits, still lifes, and abstract work. The self-portraits range from realistic to abstract, and the still lifes incorporate subject matter, such as tennis shoes and cameras.

A visionary in every sense of the word, this famed 12th-century Benedictine nun was a Christian mystic, composer, philosopher, playwright, poet, naturalist, scientist, physician, herbalist, and ecological activist. New German Cinema auteur Margarethe von Trotta reunites with star Barbara Sukowa to bring the story of von Bingen to life. Sukowa portrays von Bingen's fierce determination to expand the responsibilities of women within the order, even as she fends off outrage from some in the Church over the visions she claims to receive from God....More online including trailer.

Foster your children's love of the arts and inspire their creative expression with the OKCMOA summer camp program! We offer a variety of age-appropriate for ages 4-16, thematic sessions based on the Museum's exhibitions and permanent collection. All sessions are led by professional educators, who provide guidance and encourage creativity with stimulating instruction and engaging activities. An exhibition of student artwork and reception in the main lobby tops off each camp on Friday, when students can share their fantastic creations and take their families on a tour of the Museum.
