The 15th Annual Sheep is Life Celebration will be held Monday through Saturday, 20 – 25 June 2011, at the Diné College Rodeo Arena on the Tsailé Campus in the Navajo Nation.

Diné fiber, lifeways, and land management workshops are offered during the week.  Vendor booths are available.  A sheep camp, fireside storytelling, youth programs, sheep and wool shows, and other free events take place at the Rodeo Grounds.  Friday and Saturday features hands-on activities for the whole family.  Camping is free; lodging is available in surrounding communities.  See the following schedule or go to www.navajolifeway.org.

The June Celebration features an interactive exhibit, “Na’ashjé’ii Biyiin: Chant of the Spider. A holistic journey into Diné fiber arts,” in the Hatathli Museum on Monday through Friday. The Juried Diné Weaving Show and Sale is open in the Museum Wednesday through Friday.

DBI is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization founded in 1991 by Diné shepherds and weavers to restore the Navajo-Churro sheep and the balance between Diné culture, life, and land.  DBI organizes year-round programs to improve animal husbandry and economic development in the Navajo Nation.  To be involved with the Celebration, contact TahNibaa Naataanii, Project Director, 505.406.7428, e-mail info@navajolifeway.org. or visit www.navajolifeway.org.

The event is organized by Diné be’ iiná, Inc. (DBI), co-sponsored with Diné College and its Land Grant Program, and supported in partnership with the USDA Risk Management Agency and Arizona Humanities Council.
