EVENT FINALISTS EXHIBIT AT L STREET FINE ART: “FROM ABSTRACT TO ALTERNATIVE”

 

SAN DIEGO, CA – April 10, 2011

 

L Street Fine Art is currently showcasing the work of finalists in an online competition in conjunction with Art Meets Fashion. Located across from the Omni San Diego Hotel at 628 L Street, the exhibition will run through May 31, with an artists’ reception on Friday, April 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The group exhibition includes works by six San Diego artists including Dan Adams, Moya Devine, Giedre Ferraz de Campos, Dana Levine, John Valois, and Duke Windsor. 

 

The exhibition is part of the effort of two local arts organizations to enliven the San Diego art scene by cross-pollinating the fashion and art worlds.

 

Fourteen finalists were selected from 145 entries juried by the director of L Street Fine Art, Kay Colvin.  The entries were selected on the basis of fulfilling the criteria of art that inspires the viewer at the point of intersection of art and fashion in culture.

 

Art Meets Fashion is a multifaceted project sponsored by FOCUS (Fashion Opportunities Connect US) and SDVAN (San Diego Visual Arts Network). The mission of the project is to initiate collaborations between established fashion designers and visual artists of excellence. The project also showcases creativity in San Diego, and encourages local teens to be involved in the Arts.
