What to expect:
- Participants will learn a sequence of steps given by Sidiki Sylla and performed in front of a small panel
- Participants will join a solo circle where they will be expected to dance to a rhythm, or combination of rhythms, to be played by Jeh Kulu musicians. One of the rhythms played will be Djole and preparation of solo steps before hand is recommended.
- Participants will fill out a brief questionnaire that will provide information on your dance background, commitment level, and overall experience with West African culture and this art form.
- Participants will be evaluated on a variety of levels including- technique, aesthetics (style), energy, timing, memory, and ability to commit.
