The 2011 Print Awards is an open submission prize for British and international printmakers which encourages a broad spectrum of artists to gain exposure and exhibit with other leading artists in their field. The 2011 Print Awards is the centrepiece of the 2011 International Print Biennale. The International Print Biennale was created by Northern Print in 2009 as the first major project in the UK for 20 years concentrated on the diversity of contemporary
printmaking.
The aim is to reward and promote excellence through showcasing the
very best in new British and international printmaking through an extensive
programme in Newcastle Gateshead of exhibitions, events, activities and an
international symposium. With over 95,000 visitors this inaugural Biennale was a
huge success and we are delighted to announce the 2nd International Print
Biennale.
The 2011 Print Awards are open to all artists whose work encounters print. Works in
any medium will be considered and is not restricted to 2 or 3 dimensional works.
A panel of eminent artists, printmakers and curators will select approximately 40
artists to exhibit across major venues in Newcastle Gateshead. Exhibitions of the
selected works will be shown at the Hatton Gallery, Laing Art Gallery and Northern
Print from 17 September to 19 November 2011.
Artists are asked to submit a current CV, Artist’s statement and a maximum of 10
images. Entry fee is £25 or €30.
