A talk by Maggi
Hambling, OBE, CBE, one of Britain's most distinguished artists on her
time at Ipswich
Art School during the 1960’s. This will be a
chance for the artist to talk about her artwork in The Class Of… display. This
is an exhibition that shows work
from influential students and teachers from Ipswich Art
School including Lawrence
Self, Colin Moss, Tom Phillips and Bernard
Reynolds.
“My time at
Ipswich
Art School was crucial, the various
disciplines of painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking were strongly
instilled in me. Each one continues to play its part in my
work.”
Maggi
Hambling, OBE, CBE, celebrated
artist and former IAS pupil
This talk is in aid of the
fundraising appeal to help buy the former Ipswich Art
School building and create
a new centre of excellence for modern and contemporary art. Every pound donated brings the
fundraising target of £600k by March 2012 closer, enabling the purchase and
restoration of this facility before it is lost forever as a public
space.
