FILM
"We all get dressed for Bill," says Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.
Bill Cunningham New York Thursday, April 21, 7:30pm; Friday & Saturday, April 22 & 23, 5:30pm & 8pm; Sunday, April 24, 2pm
The "Bill" in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours." Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller-who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham's enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace. Director: Richard Press 2010 USA 84min. NR digital HD. Filmmakers' website Ruth Meyers fashion show Thursday, prior to the 7:30pm screening! Oklahoma Gazette review out today!
NEXT WEEK Certified Copy Thursday, April 28, 7:30pm; Friday, April 29, 5:30pm & 8pm; Saturday, April 30, 5:30pm ONLY; Sunday, May 1, 2pm
The Promise: The Making of Darkness On the Edge of Town SPECIAL ENGAGEMENT, ONE NIGHT ONLY! Stella Artois Intermission, 7 - 8pm Saturday, April 30, 8pm
