Opening Night Film of Habib Faisal’s

Do Dooni Chaar”.

Starring Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh Kapoor
Do Dooni Chaar Do Dooni Chaar Do Dooni Chaar

Directed by Habib Faisal
India, 2010, 120 Minutes , Hindi (with English subtitles), US Premiere.

Life is tough for Mr. Duggal who works at school as a Math teacher, lives in a government allocated two room apartment in Delhi and is coping with double digit inflation rates and single digit increments in his salary. Add to that, a teenage daughter with high living ambitions, a fast-track son and a wife who loves the good life. The life in the Duggals household passes by in care of the basics and surviving from month to month. Until one day, they decide to dream to own a car and move up in life from a two –wheeler to a four-wheeler. A dream that’s not easy by any stretch of imagination for the single income family. Mr. Duggal however, has made up his mind - and his male ego will not let him change his promise to his family. What follows is a comic journey of chaos, realizations, calculations, confrontations and bonding. Join the journey that will drive them, and you, pretty much nuts.

Habib Faisal is a successful Indian director and screenwriter. He has co-written Siddharth Anand's ‘Salaam Namaste.’ He has also written director Shaad Ali's ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta, and Siddharth Anand's ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Prashant Bhargava has “a sure hand with his actors, immeasurably enhanced by Biswas' motherly presence whose underlying bittersweetness is salved by a palpable warmth of heart.”
-VARIETY

"Bhargava knows when to stop and catch the right, fleeting expressions and gestures. There’s a gentleness in this snapshot of a family and all its baggage that seems almost effortless.”
-HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

“PATANG is a visually stunning film... Bhargava handles the subject in a quiet gentle way, but shows the tension with his hand held camera and quick edit cuts.  Biswas is fantastic as the central figure in the film and truly standsout as the moral compass of the story.”
-INDIA ABROAD

ABOUT PATANG (THE KITE)
A poetic journey to the old city of Ahmedabad, PATANG (The Kite) weaves together the stories of six people transformed by the energy of India's largest kite festival. Every year a million kites fill the skies above Ahmedabad–dueling, soaring, tumbling and flying high. When a successful Delhi businessman takes his daughter on a surprise trip back to his childhood home for the festival, an entire family has to confront its own fractured past and fragile dreams. Music and fireworks, food and laughter, a kaleidoscope of color and light, the magic of the kite flying high – a traditional recipe of healing and renewal. With naturalistic performances from actors and non–actors alike, bold, lyrical editing, vibrant cinematography and a kinetic score, Patang delights the senses and nourishes the spirit.

Six years in the making, PATANG's cast includes national award winning actress Seema Biswas (Water, Bandit Queen) alongside actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Peepli Live, Dev D. Firaaq) and Sugandha Garg (Tere Bin Laden, My Name is Khan, Janne Tu Ya Janne Na), Mukund Shukla, Aakash Maherya and Hamid Shaikh.

Produced by Jaideep Punjabi.  Executive Produced by Vijay Bhargava and Jaideep Punjabi.
Written, Directed and Edited by Prashant Bhargava.
