CHART-TOPPING ROCKERS TRAIN HEADLINE MUSIKFEST AUG. 14
Singer-Songwriter Gavin DeGraw Opens the 7 p.m. Sands Steel Stage Show
BETHLEHEM, PA—Multi-platinum selling, Grammy Award winning artist Train, along with special guest Gavin DeGraw, headlines Musikfest on Sunday, Aug. 14 when it takes to the Sands Steel Stage for a 7 p.m. show. Tickets for the concert, which is sponsored by The Morning Call and The Pottstown Mercury, are $34 and $44 and will go on sale starting Tues., April 26, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., April 29, 10 a.m., to the public. Over the course of 15 years, Train has made its mark on music history with its Grammy-Award-winning song "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" and chart-topping singles "Meet Virginia" and "Calling All Angels." Since forming in San Francisco in 1994, the multi-platinum selling band has traveled a long, successful and sometimes arduous journey. Following it 2006 release, For Me, It's You, the band took a three-year hiatus, and in that time, Train, for all intents and purposes, experienced an epiphany as a whole.
On its most recent album, 2009’s Save Me San Francisco, Train has channeled its early days, revisiting the roots rock sound that has made the band such a tour de force. The recording, which has spent 74 weeks on the Billboard charts, taps into the group’s organic sound, recalling the blues and folk-infused rock that put it on the map from the start. The recording features the hits "If It’s Love," "Marry Me" and "Hey, Soul Sister," which hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Gavin DeGraw is a talent, who in just a few short years has become one of today’s premier singer-songwriters. In 2003 DeGraw released the platinum-selling Chariot, which yielded three gold singles: "I Don’t Want To Be," which soared to No. 1 on the Top 40 radio chart; "Follow Through" and the title-track, "Chariot." Thanks to tireless touring, as well as performances on The Late Show With David Letterman, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and other programs, audiences around the country fell for DeGraw’s prodigious songwriting, singing talent and affable personality.
DeGraw’s second studio release, 2008’s Gavin DeGraw, debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales charts and at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album charts, earning DeGraw his first Top 10 album. The recording also spawned the hit singles "In Love With A Girl," which Billboard dubbed "a rocking homerun," and the gold-certified "We Belong Together." The artist’s most recent studio release is the 2009 recording Free, which reached No. 19 on the Billboard 200.
